Stealing The Show - The Tis Wish Way

In a rare show of solidarity all the members of Tis Wish Organisation pitched in to organize the fund raising Marathi concert, “Baykochya Na Kalatach”. Thanks to the enthusiasm of the volunteers, every seat in the auditorium was sold out well in advance. So, on 25th November 2006 all roads led to the venue, the Tarapur Vidya Mandir Grounds.
The air was full of eager anticipation on the day of the show, with the volunteers on their toes to ensure that all arrangements were as per plan and there was no glitch to mar the show. The lights, sound and seating were all well taken care of. The brilliantly lit stage was finally set. There was an expectant hush across the audience as the curtains slowly opened and the charismatic protagonists appeared on stage. Once they put on their scintillating act, there was no looking back. They had the entire audience - both young and old - in stitches. Their riveting performances delivered with élan were absolutely delightful and memorable. Being established actors, they had the audience eating out of their hands. Much of the hilarious plot revolved around the husband's cheating ways and the wife's blissful ignorance of the wayward character. This play directed by Prakash Buddhisagar had Sunil Barve, Kshitij Zarapkar, Manjusha Godse and Ashwini Apte as the star cast.
All in all the show was a resounding sensation and as the Tis Wish girls now bask in the super duper success of this event they would like to dedicate this achievement to the largesse of the ever supportive and generous Tata Group, without whose help and encouragement this feat would have been very difficult to accomplish. Not forgetting the myriad other supporters whose kindness went a long, long way in providing Tis Wish the inspiration to carry on with its fund raising project. Grateful thanks also to our MD, Mr B Muthuraman who set the ball rolling when he offered Rs 1 lakh for the upgradation of TMRCT.
Here's wishing more power to this committed band of girls. May their tribe increase.

Healthy Living - Importance of Having Breakfast

Breakfast can help prevent strokes, heart attack and sudden death.
For those who always skip breakfast, the frequency of heart attack, sudden death and stroke peaks between 6.00 a.m. and noon, with the highest incidence being between 8.00 a.m. and 10.00 a.m. What mechanism within the body could account for this significant jump in sudden death in the early morning hours?

We may have an answer.

Platelets, tiny elements in the blood that keep us from bleeding to death if we get a cut, can clump together inside our arteries due to cholesterol or plaque buildup in the artery lining. It is in the morning hours that platelets become the most activated and tend to form these internal blood clots at the greatest frequency.

However, eating even a very light breakfast prevents the morning platelet activation that is associated with heart attacks and strokes. Studies performed at Memorial University in St.Johns, Newfoundland found that eating a light, very low-fat breakfast was critical in modifying the morning platelet activation. Subjects in the study consumed either low-fat or fat-free yogurt, orange juice, fruit and a source of protein coming from yogurt or fat-free milk. So if you skip breakfast, it's important that you change this practice immediately in light of this research. Develop a simple plan to eat cereal, such as oatmeal or Bran Flakes, along with six ounces of grape juice or orange juice, and perhaps a piece of fruit. This simple plan will keep your platelets from sticking together, keep blood clots from forming, and perhaps head off a potential Heart Attack or Stroke.

So never ever skip breakfast.
