EIC's Message

Dear Friends,

Wire Division today stands at the crossroad of its journey to reaffirm its position among the top echelons of industry both local and global. The upbeat Indian economy and the general vibrancy in global markets will I am sure encourage us to look ahead to our future with enhanced confidence. And as we step into the next financial year and into exciting happenings envisaged in the coming months, we need to gird ourselves up and strengthen the weak links in our process chain to increase the throughput and thereby enhance our profitability. The principles of Theory of Constraints has laid down the roadmap and it is now up to us to adopt best practices across all Wire Division functions and locations. The successful implementation of this simple program will revolutionize the way we operate in future. Come, therefore, lets make TOC the mantra of our industry and excellence our way of life even as we face pressures on us, on cost, on quality, on customer loyalty.

The Aspire Nite, we celebrated on 20th of March was all about honoring the various innovations brought about by many of us in our company and is but a footprint on the TOC route.

There were several other events which took place at the end of the last financial year about which you will read in this issue. I trust this copy will make interesting reading. Happy Reading and with best wishes to you and your families.

Warm regards,

Harish Pathak

Speaking at the meet, Mr. Ursekar said,  “Tata Steel Wire Division has aspirations to grow to 1 million MT in the next 5 years. Retailing would be a major area for focused growth as we have barely touched the opportunities that are available in this market segment to create value for the customer, and the entire value chain. I would therefore urge you to think big and be a part of this growth that we together forese”. He further added, “We should use the two day deliberations to reflect upon our achievements and failures and use the inputs from Intrim Consultants to make necessary course corrections”.

Mr. Rajan Chhibba from Intrim through his training sessions illustrated the implications of today's growing Steel Retail Industry and alignment of the distribution process with best business practices. New initiatives were discussed that would pave the way for creating value through effective Manufacturer-Distributor communication and knowledge sharing.

The Distributors were felicitated in the end after an open session where the Distributors shared with the expert panel the issues they face while addressing customers in their respective territories.
