Western Regional Women's Cricket Tournament

Western Regional Women Cricket Tournament was held between 1st December & 5th December at Tata Steel, Boisar Ground & Palghar-Dahanu Taluka Sports Complex.

Teams from Goa, Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Gujrat & Mumbai participated in the same. Tournament lasted for 5 days. TV Star & Commentator Ms. Mandira Bedi attended the tournament to cheer up the teams.

HIV counseling Centre at Tarapur Medical & Charitable Trust Hospital was inaugurated in the hands of Ms. Mandira Bedi. This has been started with the help of Lions Club Tarapur & World Vision.

In the Evening, Prize for best player in the match was distributed by Ms. Mandira Bedi.

On Sunday 5th December Prize distribution was done in the hands of Mr.Madhav Mantri, Well-known Cricketer & Chairman, Mumbai Mahila Cricket Association.

In this tournament Mumbai team got the first prize & Maharashtra was runner-up. Manali Patil-Gaikwad of Mumbai Team got the Best Women Cricketer prize.

Mumbai team comprises of Six Women Cricketers from Tata Steel Cricket Coaching Camp.

This tournament was sponsored by M/s.Tata Steel, Jindal, Aarti Drugs with the help of Palghar-Dahanu Taluka Sports Association and organised by Mumbai Mahila Cricket Association.

Under-19 Western Regional Women's Cricket Team was announced which comprised of Aarti Kini and Nirmala Sahi from Tata Steel Coaching Camp.


Tata Steel Antakshari

Tata Steel antakshari competition "MILAP" was conducted on 18th December, 2004. Wire Division made a record by bagging prestigious first and second prize. There was a participation right from the operations to finance to IT.

Akash Chavan felicitated by
"Dronacharya" Ramakant Acharekar 'Sir'

Akash Chavan, son of Mr.M.R.Chavan of MMD-WRM was felicitated by "Dronacharya" Mr.Ramakant Acharekar 'Sir' on 21st November at Bhavans College, Andheri. He was adjudged Best Wicketkeeper in the Cricket Tournament organised by Chandrakant Pandit Cricket Clinic for under 19 players. He played for Tata Steel Boisar Team.

Ms.Sowjanya Ram Athreya daughter of Mr.M.M.Ram Athreya, Head-Quality Co-ordination, Technical Services has passed out of IIT Mumbai with a silver medal in M.Sc. in Applied Statistics & Informatics in July 2004. She in now working with Analytics Division of GE Cap Int'l Services at Bangalore


    
TATA STEEL Wire Division Cricket Team's Achievement
   

TSWD Cricket team was runner up in Times Shield 'C' Division cricket tournament held in 2003-2004.
Mr. Santosh Jaiswal was adjudged as "Best Bowler" in the 'C' Division. He claimed 6 wickets which was highest in the division.
Prize distribution ceremony was held on 17th November 2004 at Nehru Centre, Worli, Mumbai. Mr. Sunil Dutt, Union minister for sports presided over the function.
