EIC's Message

Dear Friends,

I am pleased to communicate with you all through this issue of Taar Sansar. Customer orders, specially from Railways, have shown improvement from February '06. Let us all take the advantage of this by producing maximum in these two months.

We are on the doorsteps of financial year 2006-07 and I am hopeful that market will further improve in the year to come.

Our annual business plan is being prepared for the next financial year and we have laid down policy to face the challenges of the future. We have decided to:

1)    Be the preferred supplier in the chosen sector.
2)    Continuously challenge ourselves to achieve the lowest cost structure.
3)    Be a trusted and responsible member of the society
4)    Emerge as an organization full of vitality by empowering people and nurturing a culture of innovation.
5)    Be reckoned as a growing, global, technology savvy and self reliant organization.

Our focus should always be on Customer requirements and Quality.

I would like to stress here once again on safety in our Division. In spite of good efforts we could not reach zero accident status in the last year. Let us make it happen at least next year.

Celebrating longevity: Long Service Awards at Tata Steel, Wire Division

In this age of constant technological upheavals in every walk of life, being at a job for life time is fast becoming a fading concept. The fact is that many employees in Wire Division have logged commendably long periods of service with the company. Long Service Awards in Tata Steel are a wonderful means of acknowledging this feat and is a gesture to the employees that their commitment over all these years has not gone unnoticed.

The Long Service Awards ceremony at Wire Division held on 18th January, to felicitate 20 officers, who have worked for the company for over 20 years, for their dedication to the company, was presided over by our Executive-In-Charge, Mr. Harish Pathak. Mr. Pathak began the function by saying, “It makes me very proud to see so many long serving employees in the company today.” In keeping with the vision of improving the quality of life of our employees, Tata Steel has always provided opportunities for career development along with conducive working conditions.

Mr. Pathak presented Long Service Awards on behalf of Tata Steel. He also mentioned that wearing the watch should be a matter of pride to each of its recipients for achievement of a milestone in their lives.

We spoke to a few of the awardees to gauge their reaction on this occasion.

Mrs. Asha Shriyan, Manager Accounts, the only lady officer in this group was presented with a silver medal for her 25 years of service. She said, “I have had a great time here and in the process, evolved both personally and professionally. I can't believe it's 25 years since I joined.”

Mr. Chandramohan commented, “I originally joined the Audit Department and later on moved to Finance & Accounts. I'm enjoying the challenges of my job. It's 20 years now, and I have seen lots of changes in the course of this era.”

Mr. R. T. Gogia, was presented with a gold medal for 35 years of hard work on the shop floor. He said, “Being in Wire Division is like being with family. I have worked with some great colleagues over the years. Many of them are today my most trusted friends. Tata Steel Wire Division will always hold a special place in my heart.”

This function ended with an assurance from EIC that henceforth, as was the previous practice, every person retiring from this company will be warmly felicitated.
